Business Storage NAS - How to create a user

Provides instructions for using the Seagate Business NAS Dashboard to create a user.

Please follow this procedure to create a user in the Seagate Business NAS Manager:

  1. Log into Seagate NAS Manager using Seagate NAS Discovery or by entering the IP address of the NAS device in the address bar of a web browser.
  • To obtain the IP address of your NAS.
  1. Obtain the host name for the NAS. This can be found on the drive label. Example: \\ BA-XXXXXX
  2. Press the Windows key + R to open the run window.
  3. In the Run window, type CMD and press Enter.
  4. In the Command Prompt window that opens, type: ping& (the host name) and press Enter. The drive will reply with it's IP address.
  1. In the left sidebar, select Users and Groups.
  2. Select Users.

  3. Select Add User.



    Within the Add User window:
    1. Select a Username.
    2. Check Grant Administration Rights if you want this user to be an Admin.
    3. Full Name can be the same as the Username.
    4. Create a Password.
    5. Confirm the Password.
    6. If multiple users exist, you can assign certain users to a specific group if you would like.
      If you wish to create a Private Shared Folder, you will need to enable the Web Services you want that share to inherit.
    7. Select the Volume on which you wish to create the user.
    8. Select Create User.
