Samsung Wireless drive not connecting via WiFi

Troubleshooting steps are provided for users having issues connecting to a Samsung Wireless drive.

The Samsung Wireless drive can operate in Wi-Fi mode or USB mode. Some users have experience problems seeing the drive in Wi-Fi mode. Below are some tips to help.

  1. Confirm the USB port is not plugged in.
The drive can not operate in both Wi-Fi and USB mode at the same time.  You may use a wall charger while in Wi-Fi mode, but may not charge the drive using a computer since the unit will go into USB mode when a data connection is detected.

  2. Confirm unit is charged and powered on.  (Blinking blue light)

    1. When charged, press the power button on the side of the drive. The green light will come on solid. It will take about 60 seconds to come ready. The light will then change to a blinking blue light.

  3. Confirm you phone or tablet has joined the correct Wi-Fi network.

    1. The default network name (SSID) is Samsung_Wireless_XXXXXX (XXXXXX- Serial number of the product).

    2. The default password is 0000000000 (10 zeros).

  4. Use the Wireless App to connect to the drive.

Android

iOS (iPhone / iPad)

If the drive does not connect, try the following.

  1. Reset and reboot the Wireless drive.

    1. Use a paperclip to press the reset button on the bottom of the unit.
Note: This will reset the Wi-Fi name and password (see above for default).

    2. Power the unit off and let it rest for 60 seconds to fully power off.

    3. Power the unit on and wait for the blinking blue light.

  2. Connect the drive to a Windows PC via USB and format the drive to a MBR partition type with a NTFS file system.

    1. Backup any data on the drive as this process will erase the drive.

    2. Connect the drive to a Windows computer.

    3. Open Disk Management

      1. Press Windows Key + R

      2. Type diskmgmt.msc

      3. Press  OK

    4. Locate the Samsung Wireless drive.

    5. Right the Samsung Wireless drive.
Caution: Be sure to choose the correct drive. All data on the selected drive will be lost during the next step.

    6. Choose format and follow the prompts making sure the file system is set to NTFS.

    7. Safely remove the drive from the system.

    8. Power on the drive and wait for the blinking blue light.
