A: Seagate Share is a Web-based application that lets you access GoFlex Home even when you are not on your home network. If you have an Internet connection and a computer, you can use Seagate Share to watch movies, listen to music, view photos, or work with other files stored on GoFlex Home from anywhere in the world. Q: What is GoFlex Access?

Q: What kind of performance should I expect from the GoFlex Home?
A: Unfortunately, it is impossible to describe what real-world, sustained performance will be on any NAS product due to the large number of variables involved such as the grade of cabling and brand / level of hardware on the network. Q: What do the lights on my GoFlex Home mean?
A: The LED lights on the GoFlex Home are used to convey the system and drive status at a glance. For instance, the LEDs can tell you if the unit is starting up or ready to use or if the drive is connected properly. Q: What software comes free with my GoFlex Home and what requires an additional purchase?
A: The free software that comes with the GoFlex Home is the Seagate Dashboard software and the Memeo Instant backup software. The GoFlex Home also has trial versions of the Memeo Premium backup and Memeo Send, which are optional installations. For more information on these additional applications, see www.memeo.com
Q: What are the hardware specs on the GoFlex Home?
A: The GoFlex Home has a 1.2 GHz processor, Gigabit Ethernet port, and 256 MB of RAM.
Q: Is the GoFlex Home preformatted from the factory?
A: The GoFlex Home is shipped in NTFS, but due to the way Ethernet transfers data, it can be used over the network with both Macs and PCs.
Q: Can I expand the storage capacity of my GoFlex Home with an external drive?
A: Yes, you can use virtually any USB external drive with the GoFlex Home as additional storage as long as it is formatted as NTFS, FAT32 or HFS+.
When attaching external storage drives that are larger than 2.2TB, you must use MBR partitions for the drive to work with the GoFlex Home. Also, since 2.2TB is the maximum size for any MBR partition, you would need to create two or more partitions.
Q: Do I need to use the Dashboard software with my GoFlex Home?
A: No. You do not need the Seagate Dashboard software to use the GoFlex Home. The Seagate Dashboard software provides a user interface that allows you to establish a direct connection to the GoFlex Home on your operating system. The Dashboard software also provides an easy way to launch a backup and to add content to the GoFlex Home. All of these features are available without the use of the software.

Q: How can I use my GoFlex Home with Apple Time Machine?
A: To use your GoFlex Home with Apple Time Machine, you must meet some minimum requirements.
Your Mac must have MacOS 10.5 or higher.
We recommend that you update your GoFlex Home to Firmware to at least version 2.5.2 for MacOS 10.5 - 10.6 (at least version 2.5.3 for 10.7).
