GoFlex Satellite - GoFlex Media App loops back to the “Getting Started” screen



The GoFlex Media App will return the user to the Getting Started screen when you click Videos, Photos, Music or Documents if the GoFlex Satellite is not able to share content via Wi-Fi. This article provides troubleshooting.

The GoFlex Media App will return the user to the Getting Started screen when you click Videos, Photos, Music or Documents if the GoFlex Satellite is not able to share content via Wi-Fi.
This usually occurs for two reasons.

  1. The device (iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch, etc) is not connected to the GoFlex Satellite Wi-Fi network.
  2. The GoFlex Satellite has been reformatted to a file system that can not be read in Wi-Fi mode.

Check if the connection icon in the bottom left corner of the GoFlex Media App is green. If not, check that the Wi-Fi connection is established.

If the connection is green, check if the drive is formatted correctly.
The GoFlex Satellite can be formatted NTFS (the default) or HFS+. If using HFS+, be careful of the following:

  • Don't format the drive for use with Time Machine.
  • Do not format the drive with a GPT partition table. Use the MBR partition table instead (see Formatting HFS+ for details).
