This article will explain how to return the BlackArmor NAS Server to the way it was right out of the box. At times, it may be best to return the BlackArmor NAS back to its original state (Factory Default Settings). The following procedure will guide you through this process.
This is a data-destructive process. Seagate strongly recommends that you backup any/all data from the BlackArmor before continuing. This process will take up to 8 hours to complete once the factory reset is started.
If you are having trouble locating the IP address of your BlackArmor NAS you can find it in BlackArmor Discovery.
The 400 Series BlackArmor with 4 drives will take 8 plus hours to complete the factory reset. The LCD screen will display "Seagate BlackArmor" when the process has completed.
Download FactoryDefault.exe from the Download Center.
Input the MAC address of the BA NAS (located on the back of the drive) Do not use spaces or dashes inputting the MAC address.
Copy the string it generates
Open a web browser and type in the following:
http:/<ipaddress>/<paste-string here> (please note that there is only one / after http:)
If there is difficulty setting up Global Access after the above process has completed contact Seagate technical support.
