Seagate BlackArmor Manager – Completing the Initial Setup of BlackArmor Manager

  1. Double-click on the Blackarmor Discovery icon located on your desktop.
    Note: If the Shortcut is not on your desktop, click StartAll ProgramsSeagateBlackArmor DiscoveryBlackArmor Discovery
    The BlackArmor Discovery Application opens.
  2. Make sure that the new, BlackArmor NAS 440/420 is selected from the list and click the View Drive Details button. A second BlackArmor Discovery window opens specific to the selected NAS.
  3. Click the Manage button. The default browser launches into the BlackArmor Manager’s Login page.
  4. Enter the default administrator’s Username {admin} and Password {admin] in the fields provided. Select the language from the drop-down menu (e.g., English).
  5. Click the Login button. The Setup Wizard’s Welcome page opens.
  6. Click the Next button. Take a moment to review the contents of the End User License Agreements (EULAs).
  7. Click I Agree to continue. From the page shown, enter a Name and Description for the BlackArmor NAS 440/420. Select a Time Zone as well as Date and Time.
    Note: Time is shown in 24 – Hour Style/Military Format.
  8. Click the Next button. Enter and confirm a new, Admin Password.
  9. Click the Next button. The LAN 1/Network Mode page opens. Chose from either the DHCP (default) or Static IP Addressing Schemas.
    Note: If Static is chosen, make sure to enter all other settings:
    • IP Address
    • Netmask (Subnet Mask)
    • Default Gateway
    • DNS Servers
  10. Click the Next button. The Summary page opens displaying all configuration selections made. Click the Back button to make any changes as needed.
  11. Click the Finish button to accept the settings and continue processing.
    Note: Disregard any/all ActiveX warnings that may appear. The Setup Wizard Complete page now redirects to the Login page.
  12. Enter the admin Username and Password in the fields provided.
  13. Click the Login button. The System Status page opens. The setup is complete.
