The model numbers with the "A" suffix is UltraATA 100 speed, and model numbers with the "ACE" suffix are special drives known as "Consumer Electronics" drives, usually sold to an Original Equipment Manufacturer.  An OEM is a large company that manufactures and sells machines, such as PCs, digital video recorders such as DVRs and Tivos, security systems, video game consoles, etc.

Another useful source of information, especially for legacy drives like these, is the Seagate Desk Reference tool.

A full list of datasheets, installation guides, and detailed product manuals is available at our Document Library.

See here for information regarding Binary and Decimal calculations (if the drive's capacity appears to be less than expected).

Cable Requirements: An 80-Wire UDMA Interface Cable is REQUIRED for all UDMA/66/100/133 hard drives. It is recommended for all UDMA/33 hard drives.

Model Number Naming Conventions have changed with the release of the DiamondMax 21 series, since Seagate's acquisition of Maxtor.  Seagate drives retain the prefix "ST", while Maxtor-brand drives have the prefix "STM".
