The PlayStation 3 is capable of viewing the content stored on your Maxtor Shared Storage II (MSS II) or Maxtor Central Axis unit, provided you have the latest software updates from Sony.

Simply enable media server on the Central Axis drive and obtain the latest firmware update for the PS3.

The Central Axis media server functions are disabled by default during installation, and must be manually enabled allowing the unit to broadcast on your network. Maxtor Central Axis media server functions will work on PlayStation 3 with PS3 software version 2.37 and newer.

The Central Axis was not tested specifically with the Playstation 3 during development, however it has been observed to operate as expected given the PS3 has firmware revision 2.37 and newer.
