The steps are as follows:

  1. Right click on (My) Computer and select Manage.

  2. Select Disk Management to view the storage devices in the system.

  3. Windows Disk Management displays information about the disks it finds attached to the system. If your drive is not displayed, continue to troubleshoot. Find the drive you intend to prepare in the lower right half of the window. Windows Disk Management will not put the FAT32 file system on drives greater than 32GB. Seagate's DiscWizard software is the tool to use!

  4. Install DiscWizard and start the application. Select Add New Disc to do simple partitioning and formatting.

  5. Select the correct disk and follow the wizard prompts.

  6. This screen will default to NTFS. Select FAT32 if that is your choice.

  7. Primary partitions are best for storage that has one partition and uses a single drive letter.

  8. Confirm the choices.

  9. Pick a name for the drive.

  10. Confirm the choices or start over.

  11. Last chance to stop or start.

  12. Success!

  13. You can use Windows Disk Management again or drive properties to verify the results.
