You can use EasyManage to detect the drive and connect to the web interface or you can do it manually. This article explains.

You can use EasyManage to detect the drive and connect to the web interface or you can do it manually. If you are using Quick Start (for the MSS or MSS+ drives), please see Document ID: 190677 - How to locate the Maxtor Shared Storage Drive on your network

EasyManage is the software included with the Maxtor Shared Storage Drive II. It is installed from the CD included with the drive kit.

  1.  After the Maxtor CD installation, there will be a Maxtor EasyManage icon on the desktop. This is the starting point for using your Maxtor Shared Storage drive:

This program is also available by clicking Start -> All Programs -> Maxtor -> Maxtor EasyManage.

  2. The EasyManage program will scan the local network for attached Maxtor Shared Storage drives.

  3. If more than one is found, they will be listed here. Choose the drive you will be working with.

If the Maxtor EasyManage program does not find your Maxtor Shared Storage drive(s), the most likely cause is a hardware or software firewall preventing it from scanning the network. See Answer ID: 206891 - Firewalls and Port settings for more information.
  4. Select SETTINGS.

  5. Choose Advanced Web Page.

  6. This will open the Web Interface of the Maxtor Shared Storage drive.

Note: The firmware revision is located underneath the Maxtor logo.

Alternatively, you can type in the IP of the Maxtor Shared Storage drive displayed in the EasyManage software into the address bar of a web browser to connect to the Shared Storage drive's web interface.

You can also type in the name of the Network ID of the Maxtor Shared Storage drive displayed in the EasyManage software into the address bar of a web browser to connect to the Shared Storage drive's web interface. The Network ID is a specific name assigned to each Shared Storage/Shared Storage Plus manufactured. The Network ID for your device is located on the label found on the back panel of the Shared Storage/Shared Storage drive; it is identified as MSS-XXXXXX (where "X" is an alphanumeric character) - for example MSS-ABC123.
