Media Server technology enables digital photo, music, and video playback to networked home entertainment systems. Your Maxtor Shared Storage Drive can be used with any UPnP-enabled (Universal Plug and Play) audio/video player. You can export the playlist of your favorite music and video files.
Enabling Media Server on the Maxtor Shared Storage Drive

Open the Web Interface for the Maxtor Shared Storage drive. See Document ID: 190677 for instructions on how access the Maxtor Shared Storage Web Interface.

Choose Shared Folders Management then Manage Digital Photos, Music.

By default the Media Server is Enabled. Click Next.

Select the shared folders that will be searched for music, videos and/or pictures and click Next.

Note: You can only check one (1) iTunes folder at any given time.

The web interface will confirm the operation has been completed. Click Done to return back to Shared Folders Management.

Disabling Media Server on the Maxtor Shared Storage Drive

Choose Shared Folders Management then Manage Digital Photos, Music.

Select Disable Media Server and click Next.

The MSS interface will confirm that the Media Server has been successfully disabled. Choose Done to return to Shared Folder Management.
