Maxtor Shared Storage drives are supported with PC's using the following operating systems:

  • Windows 98SE
  • Windows Me
  • Windows 2000
  • Windows XP Home and Professional
  • Windows Vista

Maxtor Shared Storage Plus drives are supported with PC's and Macintosh using the following operating systems:

  • Windows 2000
  • Windows XP Home and Professional
  • Windows Vista
  • Macintosh OS 10.2.8 or later

The Maxtor Shared Storage and Shared Storage Plus drives are not supported with any other operating systems such as Linux, but they are compatible with any computer using the TCP/IP protocol stack and running SAMBA, so they will usually work with Linux.
