NAS OS 4.x - Online and Offline Camera License Activation

If more than one camera will be used, be sure to purchase and activate additional licenses in advance of attempting to add other cameras. 
 

Online Camera License Activation

 
  1. Login to the NAS OS 4.0 Home page and open the Surveillance Manager App and login.
     
  2. Click License on the left.
     
  3. On the Activate tab, Input the serial number from the License.
     
  4. Click Activate.
     

    A prompt will report, “License has been activated successfully. Please transfer license before uninstalling Seagate Surveillance Manager”.  Click OK..

    The License serial number will now show under License list with an Activated status.
     

     

    Offline License Activation

     

    Offline activation is used when the Seagate NAS does not have internet access. This process is performed in three operations. Follow the steps below.

     
    1. In the Surveillance Manager click License on the left.
       
    2. On the Activate tab, under Step 1, click Export and choose to Save the file. Click OK.

      This will save the device’s identification file to the browser’s download folder. The filename is offline.req.  It is needed to activate the license at a PC that has Internet, running the Windows Offline License Tool.

    1. The offline.req file and the License serial number needs to be taken to a PC that has Internet access.  This is Step 2 on the Activate tab.
       
    2. On a Windows PC, download and install the Seagate Surveillance Manager Tools.
       
    3. Locate and open the NVR OfflineTool.exe.  
       
    4. Under the Input type and Server Information file path: browse to the offline.req.
       
    5. For the Input SN:  field, paste the serial number from the License and then click Activate.
       
    6. You will will be prompted to save the offline_license.dll file. Save it to your computer.  


       
    7. A Confirmation box will report, “Complete! Please copy the license file…...and import to your program”.  Click OK.
      A camera license has now been activated using the NVR Offline License File.
       
    8. Bring the offline_license.dll file back to a PC on the local network where the Seagate NAS is located.
       
    9. In the License Section of the Surveillance Manager, go to “Step 3 Import the offline license file”.  Click Browse and select the offline_license.dll and then click Import.

    Online License Transfer

     

    Transfer / De-activate a license before uninstalling the Surveillance Manager, resetting the NAS to factory defaults, or you may want to use the license on a different Seagate NAS OS 4.0 device.

    1. In the Surveillance Manager click License on the left.
       
    2. Click the Transfer tab.
       
    3. From the License list, select the license you want to transfer and click Transfer.



      The license will be removed from the License list.

    Offline License Transfer

    1. In the Surveillance Manager click License on the left.
       
    2. Click the Transfer tab.
       
    3. From the License List, click to select the license you want to transfer and then click Export.


       
    4. When prompted, save the offline.reg file.  The license is removed from the License List but the transfer is not complete.
       
    5. The offline.req file needs to be taken to a PC that has Internet access.
       
    6. On a Windows PC, download and install the Seagate Surveillance Manager Tools.
       
    7. Locate and open the NVR OfflineTool.exe.  
       
    8. Under the Input type and Server Information file path: browse to the offline.req file. Click Transfer.

    7. A Confirmation box will report, “Complete! Transfer has finished.” Click OK.


    Note:  It is important to do an Online or Offline License Transfer before uninstalling Seagate Surveillance Manager or Restoring the NAS to factory defaults.
