Seagate Wireless Plus Wi-Fi transfer speed is slow

Provides advice in case the Seagate Wireless Plus wireless signal is not meeting expectations.

You may find that the performance of the Seagate Wireless Plus’ wireless signal is not meeting expectations while connected concurrently.

To achieve better wireless performance, disconnect the Wireless Plus device from the Internet. To do so, please follow these steps:

  1. Power on your Wireless Plus and wait for the LED to turn solid blue.

  2. If using a mobile device and if you have not yet done so, download and install the Seagate Media App from your app store.

  3. In the Wi-Fi settings of your mobile device or computer, select your Wireless Plus.

  4. On a mobile device: Launch the Seagate Media App. On a computer: Open a browser and type the following into the address bar:
    172.25.0.1

The browser automatically accesses the Wireless Plus user interface.

  5. In the upper right hand corner, tap on the Wi-Fi symbol. Depending on your operating system, you may need to tap on the Settings button first.

  6. Ensure you are not connected to any Wi-Fi network. To disconnect from your Wi-Fi network, tap the Wi-Fi icon.
Select the right arrow, then tap Disconnect from this network.

The best method of transferring large files/folders or a large number of files/folders is to connect the Wireless Plus to a computer’s USB port using the USB 3.0 cable. A USB 3.0 port will provide even better transfer speeds.
