Seagate Central - How to configure to use with iTunes


Provides instructions for configuring the Seagate Central to allow iTunes to play content stored on it.

Please follow this procedure to configure the Seagate Central as an iTunes server:

  1. Launch the Seagate Central Admin page by typing your host name into the address bar of a web browser. See Document ID: 005247 for instructions.
  2. Log in to the Seagate Central.
  3. Select the Services tab.
  4. Highlight iTunes and confirm that the Enable checkbox is checked.


     
  5. Open iTunes.
  6. Open the Preferences options in iTunes (under the Edit menu option in Windows).
  7. Select the General tab.
  8. Ensure the Shared Libraries option is checked.


     
  9. From the menu sidebar in iTunes, looked under Shared for the Seagate Central.
    It will be labeled Seagate-XXXXXX, or, if you changed the hostname, the name you selected.

    Once your Seagate Central is selected, your data will populate on-screen and you will be able to play your files from the Seagate Central in iTunes.
