Seagate Central - How to find your Hostname and IP address in Windows


Provides instructions for finding the hostname and IP address of the Seagate Central.

The default hostname of your Seagate Central in Windows is Seagate-XXXXXX (where XXXXXX is the last six digits of the MAC on the Seagate Central label).

If you are on the same network as your Seagate Central, you can open a browser and type the hostname into the address bar to launch the Seagate Central Assistant.

Please follow this procedure to find IP address of your Seagate Central in Windows:

  1. Open Start menu.
    (Windows 8: Press the Windows key + D to arrive at the desktop.)
  2. Select Run...
  3. In the Run window, type:
    cmd
    and press Enter.
  4. In the command prompt window, type:
    ping seagate-XXXXXX
    where XXXXXX is the last six digits of the MAC on the Seagate Central label.
  5. Press Enter.

The system replies with the IP address for your Seagate Central.
