How to access your GoFlex Home in Windows RT (Microsoft Surface tablet)


Information on how to access content through a Microsoft Surface device, both through Samba and remotely.

Please follow these instructions to access your GoFlex Home from a Windows RT device, such as a Microsoft® Surface® tablet or a Windows® phone. 

Connecting to the GoFlex Home through samba using your Microsoft® Surface® tablet or a Windows® phone

  1. Power on the Windows RT device.
  2. From the tiles menu, tap on the search icon to initiate a search.
  3. In the search field, type \\goflex_home and tap Enter.
  4. You will be redirected to the desktop part of your Windows RT device. You will also be prompted to log in to the GoFlex Home.
  5. Provide your credentials for your GoFlex Home's User Name and password.
  6. You will be able to see your GoFlex Home's shares and access your data.
Note: You can only access the GoFlex Home this way while your Windows RT device is connected to the same network as the GoFlex Home.

Connecting to the GoFlex Home through remote access using your Microsoft® Surface® tablet or a Windows® phone :

  1. Power on the Windows RT device.
  2. Go to Desktop.
    Desktop view - Supports GoFlex Home access Start view - Does not support GoFlex Home access
  3. Open Internet Explorer (not the tile app).
  4. Go to www.seagateshare.com and log in with your username and password.

    A warning screen may display the very first time you attempt to access the GoFlex Home this way. It is ok to proceed.



    You also may be getting an Adobe warning the first time you access the GoFlex Home this way.


     
  5. Shares that are available on the GoFlex Home display at this point, and will be available to browse.
