Seagate Wireless Plus - How to Update Firmware 2.2

Firmware update information and notes for Seagate Wireless Plus.

Seagate Wireless Plus has an automated process for updating firmware on your device. As long as you are able to connect your device to the Internet, any firmware you need will be downloaded to your device automatically and with no intervention from you as a user.

Once your Seagate Wireless Plus device is connected to your Android or iOS device via the app or browser application, please follow the procedure to prepare that process:

  1. Power on your Seagate Wireless Plus.
The device is ready for use when the blue LED is solidly illuminated, not flashing.
  2. Turn on your mobile device and go to the Wi-Fi settings option.
  3. Select the Seagate Wireless Plus.
  4. Access your Seagate Wireless Plus via your app or via your mobile device browser.
  5. On the top right corner of the Seagate Wireless Plus screen, press the Wi-Fi logo.

You will now be presented with Wi-Fi networks available to you and your mobile device. Select and log in to one of them and go back to the Seagate Wireless Plus screen.
  6. Once connected, the Wi-Fi logo changes:

This indicates that your mobile device is connected to your Seagate Wireless Plus and the Internet. Any available firmware upgrade will now download directly to your device.
This process will happen in the background. To check your current firmware version, tap the settings icon and select About. The current firmware version displays there.
  7. Please wait a minimum of 20 minutes before changing the Wireless Plus device's configuration.
  8. After 20 minutes, power off off your Seagate Wireless Plus. Both the blue and green (charging LED) should be completely off. Leave your device powered off for a minimum of 1 minute.
  9. Power your device back on and wait for the blue LED to return to solid blue.
If a firmware update has been transmitted to your Seagate Wireless Plus, the return to steady state may take a few more minutes than normal.
  10. When the blue LED is solid, the Seagate Wireless Plus is now ready for normal use.
