Folgende Betriebssysteme werden von Maxtor Shared Storage Plus-Festplatten mit PC und Macintosh unterstützt:

  • Windows 2000
  • Windows XP Home and Professional
  • Windows Vista
  • Macintosh OS 10.2.8 or later

Andere Betriebssysteme, wie z.B. Linux, werden von Maxtor Shared Storage- und Shared Storage Plus-Festplatten nicht unterstützt. Sie sind jedoch kompatibel mit allen Computern, die das TCP/IP-Protocol benutzen und unter SAMBA laufen, d.h. sie sollten normalerweise mit Linux funktionieren.
